It’s that time of year again - Racing Against Drugs Durham!

Monday, May 3 to Friday, May 7 is the week to mark in your calendars!!  Our event is once again at Iroquois Park Sports Arena in Whitby, with set-up taking place on Sunday, May 2. Without the many volunteers who give up anywhere from half a day to a full week of their time to help out – we would not be able to run this spectacular event for over 6,000 grade 5 students each year!

Please fill out the Event Volunteer Application Form and the Criminal Reference Check Form to be filled out, along with a Criminal Background Information Checklist.  Due to the time frame involved in getting the criminal reference checks processed free of charge, the forms must be mailed or delivered to the RCMP coordinator no later than   Thursday April 15th, 2010.

If you belong to a large organization, like Durham College or the Durham CAS, you will have a Volunteer Coordinator who can check your ID and collect your forms for delivery to the RCMP.  If you are a high school student or a school parent volunteer, you can go to your school administrator to have your ID checked.

If you do not have a volunteer coordinator to sign off on your ID, please contact one of the committee members on the reverse, so that we can arrange to check your ID, or attend at the front desk of either the Pickering (Brock & Hwy 2) or the Oshawa (Richmond & Centre) Divisions of the Durham Regional Police Service and have your ID checked by the officer or civilian on station duty.  Both of these stations are open extended hours, seven days a week.  Please show this letter to the front desk operator if there is any question as to the process.  They are to verify your ID, sign off at the third “X” to indicate that they viewed your ID, and then hand you back both the application and the background check forms.

You must then either deliver or mail both forms in an envelope to the RCMP, Attention Corporal Roger King, Integrated Support Services Unit, Toronto East RCMP (Bowmanville Detachment), 415 Baseline Road West, Bowmanville, Ontario, L1C 3K3, and they will be processed further by him.  If you are delivering the forms in person, please note that the hours of the Bowmanville RCMP Detachment are Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 4:30 pm.
